Le principe d'immanence
Résumé
The book has two main objects : firstly, Sieyes's perspective on metaphysics, under the influence of Condillac (and through him Locke and Leibniz), Spinoza and materialism ; secondly, the contemporary founding of an institution central to the French political and legal system : the "Conseil d'Etat", in 1799. Those two aspects of Sieyes's work are but the two sides of the same philosophical project (described here as a principle of immanence) stamped with antivoluntarism, nominalism and the analytical division of powers (against the checks and balances system).
