Over recent years, many discoveries have renewed our knowledge about the oldest stone indutries and also about the benhaviour and lifestyle of the hominids that made them, not only in East Africa, but also in near East, in Trans Caucasia and in southern Europe. If the first tool-making hominids appear in East Africa, as early as 2.55 million years ago at the gates of Europe in Trans-Caucasia, and a little over 1.4 million years ago on the Mediterranean coasts of Europe (Figures 19 and 21).
