Le necropoli di Padova all’epoca di Augusto
Résumé
This paper is aimed to highlight the Augustus’s influence in Patavium, focusing the
attention on funerary dynamics fostered by the acquirement of the municipium
status and the assumption of social and cultural features of a definitely Roman city.
After a first paragraph discussing meaning and function of monumental remains
recently discovered in the city centre, maybe in connection with the Julio-Claudian
family, the following test is focused on the urban cemeteries of the early imperial
age. Starting with the topographical distribution of Augustan graves, the analysis
is then focused on two funerary contexts, chosen among the most representative as
for the period: their study consists of a first part regarding the general organization
and of a second one concerning graves and ritual practices, with particular attention
to some cremation structures remarkably well preserved
