A Ten-year Bibliometric Analysis of the journal "Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment (2003-12)

A bibliometric approach was employed to identify the characteristics of the journal Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment during the years 2003 to 2012. This study investigates the growth pattern and collaborative research, as unraveled by a study of this highly-ranked journal, in the field of ecology. Average growth rate is increased to 1.02%, degree of collaboration 0.33 was observed and average number of authors per paper is 3 (2.26). Academic institutions are the major contributors to the Front. Ecol. Environ. which are mapped through VOS Viewer, and Solo or Single author contribution is very high in Front. Ecol. Environ. Biodiversity and Landscape tops in subject wise analysis.
