This paper focuses on Greek inscriptions from Egypt and the Aegean islands during the Hellenistic period: based on this epigraphic documentation, we try to determine, on the one hand, what are the spatial dynamics of the gods and goddesses named epekooi (“who listen”) or with similar onomastic attributes, and on the other hand, what are the motivations of social agents who chose to address the gods with these names. Facing the diversity of contexts, we consider that the diffusion of epekoos and the like in the Hellenistic Mediterranean was more complex than it was suggested before.
