This paper aims at contributing to the debate between those who think that pragmatics is a part of linguistics and those who thinks that, though it complements linguistics, it is not a part of it. The experiment reported on the paper bears on whether conversational implicatures are lexically triggered or are computed on a once off basis. Using Koenig sentences (i.e., special types of comparative sentences), I show that conversational implicatures which have been claimed to be lexically triggered through contrast sets appear in fact to be nonce, given that substitution of the lexical trigger by a nonword does not seem to affect computation. This shows that, regarding conversational implicatures at least, lexical triggering does not seem extremely convincing and that the adversary position, advocated by Sperber and Wilson, seems more promising.

            <abstract xml:lang="fr">
