Good jobs, hard work ? The paradoxical position of nurse assistant and housekeepers in French hospitals

Abstract

The first section presents the hospital industry and its evolutions. The second section focuses on work organization and the categories of cleaning and basic nursing. A third section deals with the job skills and work characteristics of these categories through a double perspective of considering labor market institutions and hospital policies.
