              <p>Thinking of myths in modern societies, fashioned by scientific knowledge, empirical inquiry and verification, seems vain, even fanciful. At the same time, strictly following the positivist critique which would reduce myth to a literary genre or an archaic fabulation would be to refuse any opening to a relation between myth and the lived social, cultural and imaginary world. On the contrary, bringing to light the symbolic forms of knowledge which representations convey within themselves in the form of a collective imaginary, inherited, expressed, mediated, shared and above all lived in society would be more appropriate, even necessary, for the times in which we live. Recovering these dimensions which are revealed in the biases of common sense in the form of knowledge or identificatory memories is, to some degree, to historicise the idea of their truth. It is this conception of myths as cultural heritage and metaphor of a bygone collective existence which I have tried to study through their realisation in common sense, identity, social and historical memory evident in the biases related to events in Macedonia.</p>
            </abstract>
            <abstract xml:lang="fr">
              <p>Penser les mythes dans les sociétés modernes, façonnées par le savoir scientifique, l'empirie et la vérification, serait vain, sinon chimérique. En même temps, suivre à la lettre la critique positiviste qui veut réduire le mythe à un genre littéraire ou une fabulation archaïque serait lui refuser toute ouverture à un rapport avec le vécu social, culturel et imaginaire. Au contraire, mettre en lumière les formes symboliques du savoir que les représentations véhiculent en elles sous forme d'imaginaire collectif, hérité, exprimé, médiatisé, partagé et surtout vécu en société serait plus approprié, sinon nécessaire, de nos jours. Capter ces dimensions qui se dévoilent par le biais du sens commun sous forme de savoir ou souvenir identitaire c'est quelque part, historiciser l'idée de leur vérité. C'est cette conception des mythes, héritage culturel et métaphore d'existence collective d'autrefois, que nous avons essayé d'étudier à travers leur actualisation dans le sens commun, l'identité et la mémoire sociale et historique par le biais de l'affaire macédonienne.</p>
