While there is evidence of stabilisation or slight decline in use in some high-prevalence countries, cannabis use has, on the whole, increased in most European countries over the last 15 years, especially among adolescents and young adults. This chapter presents the main concepts for diagnosing harmful cannabis use, abuse and dependence as well as tolerance and withdrawal symptoms from cannabis
