Procreation, Life Cycles, and Prenatal Infancy Regained in Great Peace Beliefs
Résumé
Based on a cluster of disconnected textual occurrences from the Great Peace Scripture (Taiping jing) and Weft writings (weishu), this paper analyses the symbolism of gestation, prenatal infancy, birth, time cycles, and practices of reversion to the pristine condition of the foetus. This material shows how Great Peace proponents proposed to transcend the knowledge they inherited from the technicians of pre-imperial and early imperial China.
