Opportunities and Antisemitism. Housing in Paris, 1943-1944
Abstract
This article sets out to renew the conceptualisation of anti-Semitism beyond the single sphere of the history of ideas in order to bring attention to situations in which anti-Semitism was in action. To this end, it combines history and political science and draws on the concept of window of opportunity, created in the field of the sociology of public policy, to study housing policies in Nazi-occupied Paris. It is based on ongoing research, both quantitative and qualitative, that seeks to shed light on the active role of the Seine Prefecture in reallocating the dwellings of Jewish families who were absent from their homes.
