Collapsing Western distinctions in literary style

Abstract

After demonstrating that the use of Western concepts to translate and explain Liu Xie's conception of literary style in the Wenxin diaolong is misleading, this paper invites to investigate the words chosen by Liu Xie and to see how they connect with each other. This different conceptual map of literary style offers a refreshing and stimulating perspective on what makes writings different from one another.
