Re-assessing the Couperin Iconography
Résumé
The aim of this paper is to re-examine the rare painted, engraved and drawn portraits of the Couperin family, to reconsider the comments made on them, and to attempt to propose an assessment of their identification and attribution. These portraits will be placed in the context of the production of portraits of Parisian composers from 1669 to 1750 in order to identify their codes of representation, their typological variants and their functions.
