O Castro de Guifões à luz dos dados carpológicos e antracológicos
Résumé
Extensive palaeoenvironmental data suggest that significant changes occurred between the late Iron Age and Late Antiquity throughout the Roman Empire, driven by economic, political, and environmental factors. These differences are repeatedly detected in the archaeological record at different sites, through anthracological, carpological, and palynological studies. Based on the case study of Castro de Guifões (Matosinhos, Portugal), we propose to share a summary of the main conclusions/interpreta8ons obtained in the framework of the GUIFARQ project - Guifões Archaeological Research Project, which began in 2016. So far, it has been possible to identify agricultural and arboricultural crops, the gathering of wild edible plants, the possible circulation of food, different types of timber exploita8on, and forest management strategies. These will be briefly presented according to the local and regional reality
