Objet d'art, objet de science. Note sur les limites de l'anti-fétichisme
Résumé
Critical thought is defined by its antifetichism. Strong weapon to break the idols, this resource does not allow to understand what objects make, to measure their precise role -neither in science nor in art. How can we go further, allot more to objects than the passive role of screens on which society projects itself, reversing the real social origin of the fetishes' power?
A comparison between science and art allows to the revisit the relationship of social sciences to the objects they meet. The article proposes to borrow to the sociology of science the impossibility of simply getting rid of objects as pure fetishes or natural things; and to the history and sociology of art their talent in following heterogeneous mediators, allowing to link in a seamless web things and human beings.
