Abstract
The negotiations required to gain access to the field can provide particularly rich material. First of all, the detailed analysis of a refusal from the field, which occurred in the medical world during sociological research on anorexia, contributes to the study of situations in which the survey-taker is not in a dominant position. It also offers the basis for a sociology of the importance of sociology in discourse on mental illness, and for the practical relationship between sociology and psychology.
Les négociations d'entrée sur le terrain peuvent constituer un matériau particulièrement riche. L'analyse détaillée d'un refus de terrain survenu dans le monde médical au cours d'une recherche sociologique sur l'anorexie fournit tout d'abord une contribution à l'étude des situations où l'enquêteur se trouve dans une position dominée. Elle permet ensuite d'engager une sociologie de la place de la sociologie dans l'espace des discours sur la maladie mentale, et des rapports pratiques entre sociologie et psychologie.
