The Old Assyrian Trade in the light of Recent Kültepe Archives
Résumé
At the beginning of the IInd millennium BCE, inhabitants from the Assur city-state, on the Tigris, organized large scale commercial exchange with Anatolia: they exported tin and textiles in Central Anatolia and brought back gold and silver. They settled down in forty Anatolian localities, in karum and wabartum; their main settlement being at Kültepe, near Kayseri, in Turkey, the place of the ancient Kanis.
