Le développement a-t-il influencé l’agrobiodiversité dans le bassin tchadien au cours du XXe siècle? Histoire d’une conservation par les échanges
Résumé
Exchange, between kins, peers or even commercial partnership on market places are an important mechanism to maintain a high level of agrobiodiversity in the Lake Chad Basin. So called ‘informal’ seed exchange networks are of various scales and their role is complementary to markets where peasants can sell theirs crops, acquire seeds in case of shortage but also discover new cultivars to be tested. The seeds of improved varieties, produced by formal scientific research are often not distributed through these channels. This could explain why they are seldom used by local peasants.
