"Introduction", in Sabrina Mervin (ed.), The Shi‘a worlds and Iran, London, Saqi Books, 2010, pp. 9-26
Abstract
This is an introduction to a collective book that explores the interactions between the Shia worlds and Iran. It discusses the influence of the Iranian revolution, but also the competition for the centrality of the religious authority between Qom and Najaf, the tight links that connect families of ulamas in all the Shi‘a worlds, Shi‘i transnationalism that does not contradict specific nationalisms.
