The Dissemination of Barthélemy Sicard’s Postilla super Danielem

Abstract

Barthélemy Sicard is the only immediate follower of Peter John Olivi in Languedoc known to have produced any scholastic work. His Lectura super Danielem was produced in the first decade of the XIVth Century, a few years before the destruction of Olivi's grave in Narbonne in 1318 and the Spirituals flee to Italy. The dissemination of this work in 6 preserved manuscript can therefore provide an interesting chart of the Spirituals afterlife throughout the XIVth and XVth Centuries.
