The Misfortunes of a Word-watcher : a Reading of Iris Murdoch, A Word Child.
Résumé
I propose a reading of Iris Murdoch's A Word Child and show how her
novel resonates with important themes in Ludwig Wittgenstein's
Philosophical Investigations, as read by Stanley Cavell, such as the
idealization of language. I highlight the ethical significance of such an
idealization.
