Le pèlerin et son guide au XVe siècle, une relation complexe
Résumé
The pilgrim and his guide, a complex relationship” Several 15th century pilgrimage narratives to the Holy Land mention the local guides, who had to lead and to make the trips of the pilgrims easier. The latters speak about them in places dedicated to advices for potential pilgrims ; they often recommend not to rely completely to these people, rarely portrayed in a favourable manner. Travelling through an unfamiliar space, the pilgrim is reluctantly obliged to trust his guide, the only one able to keep him safe and to provide him access to the desired place. But we can read, in some narratives, more personnal passages too, showing a more profound relationship between the pilgrim and his guide.
