Bartholomeus Anglicus – Bartholomew the Englishman
Résumé
The Franciscan Bartholomew the Englishman is one of the main so-called encyclopaedists of the thirteenth century, the golden age of medieval encyclopaedism. Bartholomew is mainly known through his compilation of natural and theological science divided in nineteen books, called De proprietatibus rerum (On the properties of things), which circulated very widely since the seventeenth century.
