A Comparison of Early Bronze Age Ceramic Assemblages from Circular Cities in Inner Syria and the Western Jezirah: Some Preliminary Considerations
Résumé
The pottery assemblages from third millennium BC circular cities of the Western Jezirah and of the Badiyat al‑Sham have, a priori, nothing in common. An outline of the pottery characteristics of each of these regions allows us, however, to consider their comparison from the point of view of the organization of local productions and their diffusion, as well as trade/exchanges at the interregional scale. Our observations show that these assemblages ultimately reflect socio‑economic contexts and, probably, a different political and economic organization in each of the regions studied.
