The main goal of this paper is the discussion of the use of periodical sources within the Brazilian Historiography, which beared an increasing importance throughout the last decades. The author intends, moreover, to present and systematize a set of procedures of theoretical and methodological nature, which are implicit within researches on such materials that are not always clearly explained. In fact, this manner of utilization as well as the set of questions addressed to news-papers, magazines and reviews turn them into both source and the object of this work.
