Pour une relecture du palimpseste de Strabon
Résumé
The article presents the method and results of a new multispectral imaging process, developed by Lumière Technology, to facilitate easier and more complete reading of palimpsest manuscripts. To demonstrate the advantages of this technique, the team used the oldest surviving manuscript of Strabo, copied at the end of the fifth century and provenant from the Abbey of Grottaferrata, most of the folios of which are now preserved in the Vatican Library (Vat. gr. 2061A, Vat. gr. 2306). The importance of this manuscript for the establishment of Strabo's text is briefly explained, as is the history of transcriptions made from these folios by Wolfgang Aly and François Lasserre during the twentieth century.
