Le mobilier liturgique en pierre du groupe épiscopal de Mariana (Corse)
Résumé
A complete review of the Early Christian episcopal complex of Mariana, seat of the only bishopric of Corsica in the 5th century, was carried out between 2015 and 2018. As part of this research, the lapidary furniture of the liturgical arrangements of the basilica and its baptistery was confronted with the renewed archaeological data. The liturgical sculpture attached to the basilica consists of an altar table, probable pillars of a chancel screen and fragments of thin openwork slabs; as for the baptistery, a beautiful octagonal ciborium covered the piscina and a new graphic restoration is proposed here. The study is based on an accurate survey of each sculpted piece, a morphological analysis of the blocks, an iconographic and stylistic study of the ornamental repertoire and a petrographic examination of the materials.
