Les obsessions d'Henri Béraud

Résumé

Henri Béraud's obsessions, Frédéric Monier. The career of Henri Béraud, an intellectual, editorial writer and pamphleteer for the weekly Gringoire, was marked by a break in 1934. Until then, Béraud was mainly a famous and recognized writer. Afterwards, he expressed his anti-semitic, anti-Communist and anti-English commitment which was to lead to collaboration with the Germans. In addition to the traditional explanations of the passage from the socialistic left to the admiration of fascism, Béraud's case shows the desire to be an intellectual with an audience and the inner contradictions of a man torn between a paternal Dreyfusard-type heritage and obsessive anti-semitism.
