Remarques sur l'évolution du système des temps en tamoul
Résumé
We examine here the morphology and temporal values of Tamil verbal forms, simple and compound, and their organization as a system during classical, medieval and modern periods. Within this general framework, attention is focused on the present tenses and especially on the conditions which made it possible for the modern form to appear, whose infix is -kiṉṟ-. A hypothesis is advanced, which explains the phenomenon in terms of the reinterpretation of forms already existing in Classical Tamil, followed by an analogical extension.
