Associations d’aide aux victimes : un rôle d’intermédiaire renforcé dans le déploiement du bracelet anti-rapprochement
Résumé
This article aims at analysing the judicial apprehension of domestic violence through a new protection measure: the GPS electronic tag for domestic abuse. Our research analyses the role of victim support in implementing this measure. Described as "Justice intermediaries" (Biland et al., 2022), these organisations facilitate the link between victims and legal professionals. The article shows that the launching of this specific GPS electronic tag in France in 2021 has considerably strengthened the victims support role. Indeed, the organisations were very much eager on implementing this measure in France. However, this new tag involves a closer monitoring of victims and increases interaction with the rest of the legal system. As a result, this tag helps to give them a position halfway between partnership and subordination to the judicial institution. Hence, it transforms the relationship they have with victims, between support and control.
