The exploratory fieldwork: a methodological tool for the confrontation between the research project and the context studied
This article highlights the interest of implementing an exploratory fieldwork at the beginning of the doctorate for the young researcher in social sciences. Thanks to our personal experience -the start of a doctoral research on mining conflicts in Central America-, we will describe how this methodological tool allows us to step back and reconsider the realization of our research project, and more specifically to verify the relevance of the analysis categories used within it. In this case, the exploratory fieldwork is an asset to adjust our questioning on processes that had not been anticipated at the time of the elaboration of our research project.
