Résumé
Imcary and its Marxist "reorientation". A Catholic organization at the heart of the transnationalization of political cultures in Europe in the early 1970s
The existence of a Left Catholicism connected at a European scale in the "68’s" is controversial. The case of the International Movement of Catholic Agricultural and Rural Youth (Imcary) argues for a positive answer. Officially choosing in 1970, to reorient its doctrinal matrix by adopting frameworks of analysis and action inspired by Marxism, it then has an organizational structure present in most countries of the West of the Continent. Continental team meetings or internships, circulars and publications, but also targeted coaching of local "advanced" teams draw multiple paths of circulation and permeation for left political ideas now carried by the movement, condemned in 1976 by the Vatican, which withdrew its status as an international Catholic organization.
