Pierre-Jean Burette : un archéologue de la musique grecque
Résumé
Burette (1665-1747), an amateur musician and a physician, conducted research into the music of antiquity at the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres. He brought scholarly acumen to his edition of three musical fragments and his widely circulated annotated edition-translation of Plutarch's treatise on music, which laid the foundation for much 18th-c. music scholarship.
