The Relation between E-Competencies Development and Performance : an Application to the E-government
Résumé
If we define e-competencies as the competencies developed in order to support the online activity of the organization, there is very few if any research that studies the relation between e-competencies development and firm's performance.
From the resource-based theory we studied empirically this relation focusing on the impact of e-competencies development on performance in 123 observed organizations.
The results prove that organization's performance is linked with e-competences development. The relation between internal e-competences development and performance is particularly significant. Finally, the duration of online activities development acts as a moderating variable in the e-competences development/performance relation.
This research is particularly useful for public administrations that are developing e-government applications and need to know how to develop competencies so that to successfully attend to citizen and other stakeholders or to obtain good financial results from initial investments.
