Towards the decline of family solidarity ? After the heatwave, reflections on the myth of abandoned old age.
Résumé
Modernity is said to erode the strength of the bond between generations. Referring to the history of family in France or Europe, this article takes a closer look at the heatwave that is said to have claimed the life of 15.000 elderly people in France during the Summer 2003, and shows that Modernity is certainly not the main culprit.
