With a view to exploring the information potential of bone industry and perhaps providing new data about cultural origin of European farming communities, a comparison between bone collections from Early Neolihic in Bulgaria and from the Levant, Antolia and the Zagros.
The results of this analysis show precisely that the style of production is no pertinent. In the cas of bone industry, it is rapidly changing from one site to another and particularly when Aegean is crossed. The most simple artifact types and certain techniques, without elaborate stylistic traits, remain unaffected by distance. It therfore appears that the difficulty of establishing comparisons between the Balkans and the Near East, particularly Anatolia, reflects a state of research rather than a reality.
