The collective dynamics of work and organization design during organizational innovation
As dinâmicas colectivas de concepção da organização e do trabalho durante a inovação organizacional
Résumé
In this paper we present an ergonomic intervention for the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) in a company dedicated to the production of car tanks. We show that innovation emerges from the improvement of a production process that shifts from adjustments to the technical system to knowledge about the activity. The design of work organization emerges directly from the work requirements and from ways of controlling the unpredictable as well as the possibilities of collectively facing production flows. Here managers‘ representation of work organization is decisive. It offers a way forward to ensuring the lasting prevention of MSD.
