Résumé

Grammatical relations in a syntactically ergative language such as Katukina-Kanamari are claimed to rely on the very same formal properties than in accusative languages. Except for causatives and applicatives (as well as noun incorporation, not dealt with in the paper). The generalisation including both types of languages is that these changes on argument structure are semantically driven, that is: in terms of grammatical relations Katukina-Kanamari and Sikuani work in an opposite way, but in terms of semantic roles they are absolutely identical.
