French Reflections in the Shakespearean Tragic

Abstract

A follow-up study to the author's French Origins of English Tragedy (2010), singling out three manifestations of the "Shakespearean tragic"--Hamlet, Antony and Cleopatra and the comedy All's Well That Ends Well--for an approach by way of multiple French intertexts, not only literary but also historical and political.
