La distance communicative dans les écrits de scripteurs peu lettrés et la variation de septembre en français
Résumé
The aim of this contribution is to evaluate whether writings of the semi literate that belong to "communicative distance" may add or not to the knowledge of the "communicative immediacy" (Koch & Oesterreicher 2008: 2575) of the previous times. In order to substantiate this, we examined ‹cettambre›, found in the writings of Anne Cocqueret, a 17th century lower-class woman from Rouen. In parallel, we described septembre and its 'diasystemic' developments. In order to establish both chronologies of the inherited form setembre and the scholarly form septembre, we particularly relied on the oral variant [sεktãbr], as it is listed in many modern French dialects, in varieties of French located in Belgium, Quebec, Ontario, Acadia, Louisiana, as well as in Caribbean and Indian Ocean Creoles. Our conclusion consists of a discussion of the norms that are observed by the semi literate and of their writings' value in the study of the "communicative immediacy" of the previous times.
