La symbolique de l'eau dans la culture cambodgienne : fête des eaux et projets urbains à Phnom Penh

Résumé

This article aims at showing how the country council, thanks to Phnom Penh, has been giving more and more importance to a major site of confluence in the development projects of the Cambodian capital since the 1990s. As they are strongly motivated by symbolical aspirations, they also fulfill the needs of the city dwellers for recreation partes and new use of the urban space. Those projects then contribute to the setting which initiates so much the cartography (which has been carried out and advertized since 1860) as the cultural traditional events such as the Water festival which takes place there every year.
