Le profit dans les PME, perspectives historiques, XIXe-XXe siècles
Résumé
The industrial decline experienced by several Western countries since the crisis of the 1970s has raised several questions about economic models. Issues such as the size of companies, the role of SMEs in national economies, and wealth and job creation are often debated. Yet, historians have rarely examined the profits, and consequently the effectiveness, of SMEs. The purpose of this volume, therefore, is to analyse SMEs and their profits from a variety of perspectives, by comparing different countries and economic sectors. Authors will focus their research on four main themes: the role of the State in modernizing accounting procedures and profit analysis; the role of cartels; economic sectors and the size of companies (SMEs/ large corporations); and the niche strategies chosen by SMEs. In particular, the contributions will study Swiss, French and Japanese companies from a variety of economic sectors (such as watchmaking, medical equipment, aeronautics, banks, and retail...).
