Energy saving policies: a study of public's discursive practices

Résumé

The communication will seek to explain what, between 2009 and 2013, might appear to be a downturn in statements condemning excessive energy consumption. With the presentation of an original survey device and an initial sociolinguistic description to identify discursive practices relating to energy savings, this paper explores an alternative hypothesis to that of social norm disaffection. This hypothesis is that respondents’ testing of the conditions of the actual exercise of the social norm leads to legitimate reasons for postponing or adjusting its application.
