Research Trends in Ecology: an analysis using bibliometric laws
Abstract
This paper presents a scientometric study of 9563 research papers in the field of ecology published worldwide and the data captured from Web of Science database for ten years (2005-2014). Through bibliometric techniques an attempt has been made to analyse the characteristics of the research output in Ecology. This study investigates the growth pattern, while Bradford's law of scattering is used to identify core journals in Ecology and Lotka’s Law to understand the productivity of authors. The productivity of authors confirms that Lotka’s law and Bradford’s law are suitable for the present set of data.
