La parfaite générosité du roi Ambara (PK NS 32).
Résumé
Full edition (transliteration, transcription, translation), with commentary and glossary, of a leaf in Tocharian B kept in the Bibliothèque nationale de France (fonds Pelliot Koutchéen). It contains an extract of the Ambara-jātaka, which tells the story of an extremely generous king, who gives to several begging people all his goods, his royal power, his family, and even his body, in order to fulfill his wish for Buddhahood. This legend does not belong to the corpus of the Jātaka of the Pali canon, but it is similar to other well-known edifying stories about generous kings.
