Strategies for multimodality and the link between planning and transport in Lyon, Grenoble and Geneva

Strategie di multimodalità e articolazione tra urbanistica e trasporti: a Lione, Grenoble e Ginevra

Résumé

The analysis of mobility policies in three European cities highlights the importance of integration between planning and transportation. Integration must be considered as a tool to reach the objectives set by Loi sur l'air et l'utilisation rationnelle de l'énergie to reduce road traffic as part of environmental protection issues. The tool assigned to meet these objectives has proved to be wholly inefficiency although it was successful in providing better public transportation. The article examines three experiences of transition from public transport development policies to intermodal policies integrated with planning policies at regional and urban levels.
