The relation between agreement classes and noun form (morphological) classes
Résumé
In this paper, we present an overview of the morphological classes and agreement classes in Bena-Yungur. Based on these data, we proceed to a general discussion on the relation between noun form classes and agreement classes by addressing two questions. First, which scenarios can explain the typological differences between Niger-Congo gender systems? Second, which typological features are innovative vs conservative in Niger-Congo gender systems?
