Wooden architecture and triangulation during Protohistory: processes of identification, updated statements and interpretative perspectives
The thematic of the protohistoric wooden architecture in temperate Europe has undergone a significant progress since the second half of the 20th century. Nevertheless, the question of diagonal braces is often avoided for this period and the hypothesis of the existence of triangulation processes is usually refuted. It is essential to point out here the difficulties archaeology has in highlighting this type of process, to enumerate the different processes of identification and to establish a statement of the remains of use of diagonal braces in the protohistoric architecture, according to archaeological and iconographic sources. Lastly, this inventory will make it possible to consider new perspectives of interpretation of specific archaeological remains.
