Mobilité des enfants migrants et biographies langagières
Résumé
Each year, several tens of thousands of young migrants are enrolled in the French school
system. Whether they arrive alone or with family, their migratory path depends on the decisions
of adults, and each path is different. The child’s point of view on the migration experience
affects their socio-educational inclusion, as well as their relationship to the first languages and
the current additional language, French. In this article, we analyze the potential cognitive
impacts underlying the tension between migration and the psycholinguistic process. We rely on
testimonies from migrant children and teenagers encountered during our research projects.
Their behaviour is diverse, ranging from rejection to overinvestment. The intersection of
sociological and didactic perspectives allows us to highlight the interdependence of life
situations and language biographies
