Gabriele Vom Bruck has long been a remarkable analyst of social dynamics within Zaydi Hashemite families in Yemen. Her previous volume Islam, Memory and Morality in Yemen. Ruling Families in Transition, published in 2005, remains a reference in social anthropology.
